Thanks to Netflix Instant and raging insomnia, I saw “Jelly” an independent film penned by and starring Sarah Louise Wilson. It is not the best film I ever have seen, but it is probably the only film I have seen in years that speaks to me as an African American woman who still believes in happy ever after a la John Hughes.

I am not a professional prognosticator, but I look at trends. Taking note of the tech, food and media start-ups that have been bubbling up in 2010, this I what I think will be big in 2011.
The rise of niche VCs. There will be venture capitalists who will direct their attention to lifestyle-focused start-ups in food, fashion, home and travel.

– No wonder I turned to mush when a German Nicaraguan guy I used to date said that was mad that he didn’t look at my lips longer the last time he saw me.
